Got to flip a tire for the first time today..one week out from competition. I have been watching youtube videos on how to do it and how NOT to do it, which was helpful. The tire we flipped today was between 200-300 lbs. EASY PEASY :D I love it! really fun. I am hoping the event wt (600 lbs) isn't too much harder. I think the flip is mostly physics.
I also got to do the walk with the Farmer's Walk handles today. OMFG they suck. lol. I warmed up with just the handles..70 lbs per hand. not a problem. Then we added wt... 120lbs per hand. Whole 'notha level. wow. Its a question of do you squish the flesh of your hand and fingers towards your palm or towards your fingers? OUCH either way... Made it about 2/3rds of the way down the 100ft before my first drop. Then I got the turn around and art way back before my second drop.
Then we added weight....160 lbs per hand. Event weight. OMFG its heavy!!!!! lol. duh. did I think it would be light? It is a STRONG man competition.
I made it part way. drop. made it a few more inches, drop. made it part way thru the turn (which, in my newbie opinion, is the hardest part) and Mike said just carry it back without finishing the turn...made it part way dropped it, made it the rst of the way, almost to the finish line. Done.... holy schnikies!
I am at home, legs up, icing my knees and shins and considering icing my hands, lol.
One week to the event. I am stoked but a little trepidacious (i think i just made up a word), this will be an awesome learning experience and I am having a blast training for it ;D
Mike says one more light workout and a few interval cardio sessions next week but then no more before the event.
Tonight I will book our hotel :) woot woot - making sure it has pool and hot tub!! and an ICE MACHINE!
